How to change the oil on your honda!
This is a no brainer, I promise.
You need a rachet wrench (much easier) with a socket (again bad on tools, the round thing that fits on bolts lol)
a bucket or oil pan, jack and jack stands and you should be good to go.
First you will want to jack up your car, slide the jack stands under it and lower the car onto the jack stands to hold it up so you have space to work under the car. Please remember Keep the E-break on.. blocks or something behind the rear tires just incase. Now you need to locate your oil pan, you cant miss it, it will have a drain plug bolt at the back end of it. All you need to do now is figure out which size socket you need (12mm,14mm,17mm - you get it) and then take the wrench - put the socket on it. Now place the socket on the bolt and unscrew... (Remember Right tighty, Lefty Lossey) sometimes it might be on tight so for some of us ladies you may need help breaking the bolt. (Also if you own a breaker bar that works perfect) Before you break that bolt make sure your oil pan or bucket it in place.
Once the bolt is lose I suggest you hold on to it and unscrew it yourself unless you have a magnetic tool that it will cling to. You dont want your drain plug bolt to fall into your bucket of oil or oil pan.. then you have to dig it out.
Once you get the bolt pretty much unscrewed.. oil will flow out into your oil pan or bucket. Now you wait for it to drain. It will take a little bit, so take a few minute break.
Once the oil is done draining you can screw the drain bolt back into place, make sure its on snug.
Dont forget to replace your oil filter!! You will need to locate the oil filter which should be in the general area, it can vary depending on what you own. Once you locate it, the fun begins. It will be a tight area to work with. You can either use your hands, get a wrench for this or get help if you cant get it off. You put grippy gloves on your hands and then grab the oil filter and turn it. It will come off and then you put the new one in, obviously the opposite way that you took it off.
Once you have that in place you can now put oil into your car. I would hope you know how to put oil in (you unscrew your oil cap and pour it in, you can use a funnel if you need to. Depending on what model and motor you have will determine how many quartz of oil you put it. Once you have this full you can then put your oil cap back on and make sure its snug.
Now you can check your dipstick and make sure its full. You can also wait and turn you car on, let it run for a minute and then check you oil..... I know some people like to do that to see where it is once its heated... whatever your preference is.
Also if you need to top off your oil, all you need to do is check your level on the dip stick. Then once you figure that out unscrew your oil cap, add some oil - not to much, then re check it with the dipstick. Keep doing this until you have it to your satisfaction. Then make sure to screw the oil cap back on to a nice snug fit and you are good to go.
Again I hope I didn't leave anything out.... If I did please let me know =]

Re: How to change the oil on your honda!
I have to say the fun part of this whole process is jacking the stupidly low car up off the ground..... the rest is a walk in the park lol at least in my case
Jezzie's a bit of a pain to get off the ground she's a lil too low an the 15s don't help ( had to use this sign sry )

Re: How to change the oil on your honda!
I'm not mechanically inclined... Not even in the kitchen... LOL! The only thing I have ever helped do to any of my cars... Is once help install brakes..(those are the worst) and I changed my fuel pump since I was the only one small enough to fit under my Miata (at the time)... I'm worthless...

Re: How to change the oil on your honda!
Don't forget to change the o-ring on your oil cooler after 130K. These are prone to bursting and will cost you an engine. The O-ring costs 2.50 at Honda. The most expensive part is the large deep welled socket that you have to use to get the nut off of the oil cooler. These are about $35. I have one if anyone needs to borrow it.
Re: How to change the oil on your honda!
